inspiration
For me as an artist gardens with flowers are a great inspiration. From my childhood on I got so much pleasure looking at gardens and I had my own little garden at home. I designed gardens and the last few years I teach ecological garden design. The relations and balans in nature , the biodiversity are as you well know very important for as well nature as us as people. Of course we also are nature. Our whole food chain is dependent for instance on insects. Gardens can play a big role in keeping insects. And in the meantime the flowers which give nectar and pollen to them are so inspirational for us!

Hé wat ben jij er voor één
Zei de grote distelvlinder
Ik herken je niet meteen.
Oh zei het kleine veenhooibeestje
Wij leven alleen op het hoge veen,
En dat is er bijna niet meer
Het wordt te droog of er zit gif doorheen.
In het noorden
Leef ik nu alleen.
Wat jammer zei de distelvlinder
Misschien moet je gaan trekken
Net als ik
Ik zoek altijd de beste plekken
In het noorden of zuiden
Dat geeft lekker niet.

Tos, albatros
leporello about the life of an albatross, albatrosses are endangered species. They are the biggest flying birds on earth. They can stay in the air for months. The stay together as a pair all thaeir lifes. And when they see each other back after months floating in the air above the sees, they are so happy! So I decided to make a booklet about them to show how special these birds are.

Oli and Koer
Oli her grandmother has died and she tries to tell her friend Koer, but Koer lost his nest, shall they be able to help each other? picture book.
I wrote and draw this book because my mother died and I saw how my son reacted and this loss. And when I read that elephants really cried when loosing a family member it was for me clear that one of the main characters should be an elephant. also elephants are endangered species.

Je bent maar aan het kwetteren
En ik moet je iets vertellen
Door je nat te spetteren
Houdt je je snavel voor een paar tellen
You're just chattering
And I have to tell you something
By splashing you wet

Stampvoetend
loop ik de voordeur door
al stampen kousen net als sjokken
in het donker stamp ik lekker voort
ver weg naar de hoek van de straat.
Ik ben weggelopen
want ik ben zo verschrikkelijk kwaad.
Welke kant zal ik eens opgaan
links daar is het park
rechts zijn er geen lichten aan
Ik sta hier maar
met mijn twijfel te verkleumen
de kou is toch best wel naar.
Naar huis dan maar? Wil ik niet
eerst moeten ze echt weten
waarom ik hen alleen liet.
Maar nu duurt het toch best wel lang
zijn ze me vergeten dan?
Wat als ik niet terug komen kan?
Ohhh gelukkig daar is papa.
“Helemaal alleen zijn ze, je nieuwe rode laarsjes
ze willen dolgraag over jouw voetjes heen,
1 aan de linker en 1 aan het rechter been’
zegt papa en komt bij mij staan.
Daar wil ik wel voor naar huis,
en nu zit ik met mijn laarsjes aan
lekker voor de kachel thuis.

Op de graadmeter,
van het leven,
scoor ik al een tijdje net
onder 0
Ik weet het:
Ik wandel in de natuur.
Neem extra vitaminen.
Frisse lucht, beweging
wat extra pillen en licht.
Met als resultaat:
een leven net onder 0.
Gelukkig geen -50.
